Memory games

We are trying to improve our memories by doing brain training exercises. This is one of them we are doing in class:

4 (or more) single digit numbers are read out by the teacher eg. 2 4 6 1, then after they have been read out the pupil writes them down to see if they can remember them in the correct order.

Pavement artwork

I hav found this amazing artwork done by Julian Beever on street pavements. They look so life like when viewed from the correct angle (shown in most of the photos). However in order to create the 3D effect they are actually drawn very differently on the pavement (see the photos of the globe to really understand the effect).

Spelling contractions

We are learning about how to spell contractions. The apostophe knocks out some letters then makes all the letters 'budge up'.

Symmetry

We are learning about symmetry this week.

If you want to try some activities at home, why not look at the alphabet and work out which letters have lines of symmetry. Are there more upper case or lower case letters? Why not fold a piece of paper, cut a shape then open it out. It will have one line of symmetry. If you fold it mroe than once it will have more lines of symmetry. Try and colour it so it remains symmetrical. Can you find things in nature that are symmetrical? Butterflies are, can you think of any others? If you have a drawing program on your computer try and make a symmetrical picture.
